Event details

Geologist and author Bruce Hayward leads a walk around and over three central Auckland's volcanoes – Pukekawa/Auckland Domain, Grafton, and Maungawhau/Mt Eden. He will explain why Grafton was not recognised until this century.

Then, it’s a gentle walk to the summit of Maungawhau to see the thick basalt lava flows that helped build Auckland, and views over the whole of the Auckland Volcanic Field.

The walk will return to the starting point at the Auckland Museum.
