Event details

Hidden among the bustle of busy motorways and inner city streets is Auckland's oldest cemetery.

This setting of wild bush and streams is a significant heritage site and the final resting place of a who's who of Auckland's history - from famous early settlers and politicians to ordinary folks.

David Verran explores their stories and those of the many communities represented here, including Catholic, Anglican, Jewish, Presbyterian, Methodist, and Māori.
