Built in the late 1880s and constructed out of New Zealand native Kauri, St Mary’s Church was taken on a remarkable journey in 1982 where it was picked up, transported across Parnell Road, and turned 90 degrees.
Enjoy photos and film footage of how this large wooden building was raised up and moved. Guided tours occur every hour from 10am to 3pm. A donation is appreciated.
After visiting St Mary's, follow the 'Heritage Pathway' through the Holy Trinity Cathedral Precinct.
Explore the remarkable architecture of the Bishop Selwyn Chapel, the Chancel with its soaring, vaulted ceiling, take in the stained glass in the Cathedral Nave, visit the Cathedral Historic Archives, and bring a picnic to enjoy in the grounds.
