Event details

Volcanoes created the rich volcanic soils and sheltered harbours of Auckland, and those cones and craters that remain are the city's recreational jewels.

Join geologist and historian Bruce Hayward, author of 'Volcanoes of Auckland: The essential guide', on one, some or all of seven different day trips. Learn how each volcano erupted and was used in Māori and European times. Climb to the summit of many cones or see the remains of those that are damaged or gone. The walks will visit the sites of 50 volcanoes.
