Event details

The Blockhouse Bay Historical Society presents a photograph exhibit at Armanasco House. This 1890 cottage was built by Panmure's first farmer, an Italian immigrant.

The display honours the pioneers who had the foresight to form the first businesses, including wool scouring and a tannery, clay pipe pottery and commercial flower growing. Market gardeners introduced the strawberry gardens, which became a major supplier to Auckland's produce market.

Members of the Blockhouse Bay Historical Society will be on hand to talk about the display.

This event is linked to an exhibit at the library (across the car park from Armanasco House), featuring prominent modern-day residents.
