Event details

Ports of Auckland is proud to present 90-minute cruises aboard the iconic William C Daldy steam tugboat. The vessel is named after William 'Crush' Daldy, the first chairman of the Auckland Harbour Board.

Join us in celebrating Auckland's rich maritime heritage and explore the Waitematā Harbour from the 83-year-old Daldy.

One of the port's first tugs, it was built in 1935 and is the last operating steam tugboat of her kind, showcasing how Aucklanders used to work and travel.

Discover the boat at your leisure, from the bustling engine room below to the wheelhouse up top.

These family-friendly tours will cruise through the port's wharves at work and explore how the way we work has developed over time.

Each cruise includes a detailed commentary on Auckland's maritime history.

Proceeds from ticket sales go to the William C Daldy Preservation Society and the Ports of Auckland Education Programme to continue teaching Aucklanders about the city's rich history.
