Event details

Take the 9.15am ferry from Auckland City or Devonport and be met at Rangitoto Wharf. Your guide will take you through the Kidney Fern Glen to the prison camp site. Then walk back along the coastal track past the baches to the UNESCO award-winning museum bach.

A welcome morning tea will await you. Learn about some of the characters who lived on Rangitoto, the bach owners who came for holidays, people who worked and lived on the island and the prison labourers who built the roads, tennis courts and swimming pool.

Return ferry:

The tour takes about two hours, so you will be able to catch the 12.45pm ferry home, or stay and explore and catch a later ferry.
