Event details

Gain a wider understanding of Maungawhau / Mount Eden by following the pathway from Māori settlement to the present community.

  • Starting at the foot of Maungawhau you will visit St Barnabas Church, hauled by bullock from Parnell
  • Pass early settler John Batger's original homestead, through to the Edwardian shop fronts of Cucksey's store, Tills' bakery and the more recent, colourful fruiterer K C Loo
  • Finish at the Crystal Palace, once the throbbing heart of city entertainment where Epi Shalfoon and his band once performed.

What you need to know:

  • This is a mostly outdoor event. Suitable clothing for spring's unpredictable weather is recommended
  • Bookings are required. Advance booking is recommended as spaces are limited to 30 people per session.
