Event details

Portuguese adventurer Don Buck rides up to an apple orchard in West Auckland where a hui is taking place. There are Lebanese, Dutch, Croatian and Māori elders in attendance, along with present-day historians and the painter Charles Frederick Goldie.

This is Allie Eagle’s watercolour and wax masterpiece, drawing on subjects both celebrated and lesser-known, past and present. In total, there are 74 West Auckland icons in the 7m x 2m artwork.

Allie will describe her artistic process, and tell us about the many characters in this extraordinary painting.
