Event details

From the mid-19th century, a canal was considered along the Whau estuary, connecting the Waitematā and Manukau harbours.

Local historian Lisa Truttman, president of the Avondale Waterview Historical Society, will give a talk about the Manukau Canal Promotions Company and its proposal to create a passage between the harbours using a centuries-old Māori transport route.

Afternoon tea provided.
