Event details

French missionaries travelled from France and introduced Catholicism to New Zealand.

Take this rare opportunity to walk inside the 1896 Bishop’s Palace. It served as the home of the Roman Catholic Bishop of Auckland for over 120 years.

This imposing home is one of the country’s largest intact buildings from the Victorian era. It was one of Auckland’s first to have electricity, and still has its original porcelain toilets.

Registered as a Category 1 historic building, it is a place of outstanding heritage significance.
