Event details

Auckland has been the home to migrant peoples for perhaps a thousand years.

Māori from Polynesia, were the first arrivals. They called it a’ Land desired by many' and competed vigorously for the food resource it provided.

British settlers came in the 19th century and saw Auckland as the ideal place to create a new life.

Our Pacific Island family came in the late 20th century, and our Asian neighbours in the 21st century. They both migrated here for the opportunities the city now provides.

Our walk will take us through the inner-city and follow the threads of this story.
