Event details

Lynnie Howcroft and Elianna Gabriel present their second book about the new settlers that lived in Newton East under spaghetti junction.

Gertie’s family is from Ireland and full of energy. She really wanted to be a Newton Cadet, but as a girl in the 1880’s she had to care for the geese and do her mother's chores.

Find out how Gertie shows her Newton neighbours that she is very clever and very brave.

Written for adults to explore with children (4-10 years) the history of Newton East from a child’s perspective in 1880.
