Event details

It's time for tea and cake at Highwic! We're lighting the Shacklock coal range and our cooks will be baking up a storm using recipes from the Buckland family's cookbooks. Handwritten recipe books reveal that it wasn't just the servants who cooked on the coal range - everyone pitched in to cook for the growing family.

Discover what life was like in the Victorian kitchen as you watch our coal range cooks hard at work, then enjoy the cake and biscuits they have made based on original family recipes.

For the entry fee you will receive either cake or biscuits baked on the coal range, tea or coffee served in our vintage teacups and the chance to explore the house.
