Event details

Auckland Walks presents an entertaining four-hour Māori and European history discovery experience for walking enthusiasts.

Rich encounters covering stories of our city's heritage since Māori first settled Tāmaki Makaurau. Starting at Ōrākei Train Station (plenty of parking available, or you can train out from Britomart), we follow the original, distorted and vanishing shoreline from Ōrākei to the lower city where the life and times of Māori chief Apihai Te Kawau and Scottish settler John Logan Campbell played out.

Includes the trials and tribulations of Auckland's early growth, social history, historic places, and some public art. Concludes at Britomart for any easy train ride back to Ōrākei Station if required.
