Event details

Birkenhead is the site of New Zealand's only sugar town at the Chelsea Sugar Refinery.

At its height, nearly a third of the village was employed there. The development of the commercial heart of the village took place from 1927-1950 when three significant buildings were developed by WH Payne: the Oborn Building, the Fredrick Morris Block, and the Highbury Buildings.

Join us on a musical exploration of this exciting time through a series of Dixieland Jazz performances around the village.

Presented by: Birkenhead Town Centre Association Inc
