Event details

China went through many changes, socially and politically.

New migrants came to New Zealand looking for a better life.

Chinese left the southern gold fields and came north, they worked in market gardens, laundries, fruit shops or started their own business.

Early Chinese descendants gradually entered the professions...and a few Chinese emerged as politicians.

All Central Library events will be live-streamed regardless of Alert Level however, if Auckland is at Alert Level 1, attendance can also be in-person.
