Event details

Join a 1.5-hour guided tour by the Onehunga Fencible & Historical Society.

Starting at St Peter's Church graveyard, you will visit sites linked to people who over the years have helped make the Onehunga of today.

Learn about leading figures such as Danny Neilson, Bill Jordan, Gillman, Coldicutt, Rev Arthur Purchas, where they worked or lived, and what they achieved.

The walk ends back at the church, where the archivist and other groups will answer queries about the graveyard, Onehunga history and genealogy.

Email heritage2018.nphps@gmail.com for a free walk guide and map.

Talk: Arthur Purchas: Man of a Thousand Hats - Saturday 6 October, 2pm

John Steele, who recently published a book on Arthur Purchas, will talk about this minister, surgeon, doctor, inventor, engineer, and the research for the book.
