North Shore historian David Verran explores the route between Takapuna and Browns Bay, and the changing identity of the visitors and settlers to these beaches that remain largely unchanged.

This talk will look at the experience of Māori as they made their journeys by waka; the story of Peter Brown who reportedly walked from Devonport to Browns Bay along the coast; the tale of a 19th century horseback ride to visit the Brown family; and a car trip in the 1920s.
