Event details

The ancient Māori name for Tāmaki Makaurau is 'Te Ipu Kura a Maki'. Maki was the father of Te Kawerau Maki the eponymous ancestor of the Te Kawerau Tribe.

When Europeans arrived and settled on Duck Creek, a team of horses and 130 men built the iconic Chelsea Sugar Factory from the red soils.

Today, the walk will you take past the cottages of the red clay engineers and chemists night workers.

The Chelsea Cafe will be open if you want a reward after the walk.
