Event details

Built in 1862, and once the home of the prominent Buckland family, Highwic is one of New Zealand's finest examples of carpenter gothic architecture.

In a special tour, our heritage guide goes beyond-the-ropes to explore over 10 rooms of this rambling mansion.

Your guide will share with you the stories and secrets of the Buckland family's 116 years at Highwic as well as showing you a range of newly uncovered artifacts. Following the tour, enjoy cake and biscuits fresh from the Shacklock coal range.

For the entry fee you will receive a guided tour followed by either cake or biscuits baked on the coal range and tea or coffee served in our vintage teacups.
