Event details

Whakamanatia, a Kaupapa Māori community group led by Grayson Goffe, will guide a hikoi/walking tour that highlights Māori public art, architecture and design that defines our city centre.

Original research for this hikoi stems from the public art publication, Te Paparahi, Toi Māori - Walks in the City, a free printed booklet and phone app.

Together we uncover the many stories, celebrated and woven into the essence of various Taonga-toi that reflect a rich Māori identity. We will explore mātauranga/knowledge systems, themes, representations, embedded deep within Te Ao Māori and reflected through an artistic, urban, architectural, contemporary presence within Tāmaki Makaurau.
